Born and raised in Lima, Peru, Elisa Gonzalez is the head of Custom Interiors by Elisa and has more than 25 years of experience creating custom drapery, bedding treatments, and fabric accessories for a distinguished roster of clients in the New York area.
She studied sewing and pattern design in Lima, Peru where she also worked in various workrooms; starting out as a seamstress and then as a cutter in the early 1970’s.
She then transitioned into interior design after moving to the United States and opened her own workshop. She has worked on diverse assignments over the years, ranging from commercial suites and offices to residences - her specialty. Some of her more extensive projects have involved the interior decorating and design of many Manhattan penthouses and summer/country homes.
One of her greatest pleasures has been the opportunity to work for a select group of clients on repeated projects throughout the years. “As their lifestyles have changed and their families have grown, these clients have called on me to create their perfect home environments. It has been my delight to have filled their needs on a continual basis.”
Elisa takes their repeated patronage as a testament to her strong work ethic, ability to meet tight deadlines, creativity, and ability to translate each client’s vision into a reality.
In addition to independent projects, she has also worked with various well-respected interior designers and workrooms in New York City, including Enlightened Designs, Eleanor Ambos Interiors, Ltd., and La Regence, Inc.
As the head of Custom Interiors By Elisa, she has hand-picked a creative group of talent who help her to continue building upon her reputation among clients and the interior decorating industry.
